F&M participated in the multi-stakeholder workshop on Sustainable Urban Development Guidelines for Historic Oasis Landscapes of Oman, contributing to discussions on balancing contemporary development with the preservation of Oman's distinctive heritage landscapes.

Olivera Petrovic, Senior Architect and Urban Planner at F&M, joined the workshop organised by the ArCHIAM Centre at the University of Liverpool, under the patronage of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MoHUP). The programme brought together policy implementers, building professionals, property owners and community stakeholders.

Through scenario-based exercises, discussions and practical activities, participants explored approaches to managing change within historic oasis settlements and considered how heritage management can be integrated into sustainable urban development.

The programme also included a site visit to Misfat al-Abriyeen, where participants toured the village with the ArCHIAM team and gained first-hand insight into its revitalisation and the local context informing the wider discussion.

Participants also reviewed and provided feedback on the strategic guidelines developed by the ArCHIAM research team in partnership with MoHUP, supporting an important dialogue around heritage preservation and sustainable urban development in Oman.
